A yearbook kiosk where alumni can find their own class

Old yearbooks sit on a library shelf, fragile and missing a few years. A yearbook kiosk puts scanned yearbooks on a touchscreen so visitors can pick a year, turn pages and find classmates without handling the originals.

Why it matters

Old yearbooks are fragile, scattered and hard to share

Often a school has one copy of each early yearbook, and some years are missing entirely. Pages tear when they are handled, and alumni visiting for a reunion cannot easily find their class. The books also never leave the building.

Ideas for Yearbook Kiosk

Every year in one place

Show the full run of yearbooks on one screen, with a year picker so visitors go straight to their class.

A call for missing years

Add a note asking alumni to lend a missing yearbook for scanning. Reunions are a good time to collect them.

Reunion class spotlights

Feature the yearbooks for this year’s reunion classes on the home screen before homecoming.

Senior portrait sections

Point visitors to senior portraits so families can find a parent or grandparent quickly.

Online access for alumni

Share the online yearbook collection with alumni who cannot visit in person.

A kiosk by the library or entrance

Place the kiosk where visitors already pause, such as the media center or a reunion check-in area.

How it works with Hardware

Yearbook Kiosk, step by step.

Three steps

  1. Gather and scan the books

Collect the yearbooks you have. Rocket’s digital yearbooks include scanning, and your demo confirms the scanning plan for your collection.

  2. Choose a kiosk or wall screen

Pick a freestanding kiosk for a library or event space, or a wall-mounted bundle for a hallway. Kiosk styles are compared for your space in the hardware review.

  3. Set it up and open the books

Place the kiosk near a power outlet and network connection, connect it and launch. Add each new yearbook once it comes back from the printer.

Setups vary by school; your demo confirms what yours will use.

Tips to get it right.

Yearbook Kiosk tips

  1. Count the gaps first

List which years you have, which are missing and which are damaged before planning the project.

  2. Ask alumni for missing copies

Alumni often have the year you are missing. A short request in a newsletter can fill gaps.

  3. Store fragile originals safely

Once scanned, keep fragile originals away from daily handling and let the kiosk take the wear.

  4. Check reach for all ages

Older alumni at a reunion and students who use wheelchairs should both be able to reach the year picker comfortably.
