Scan old team photos and match them to every season

Team photos hang in hallways, sit in frames in the coaches’ office and fill boxes in storage. Once they’re digital, Rocket can organize them with the season, sport and roster your team confirms.

Why it matters

Team photos fade where nobody can find them

Prints curl, frames break and the labels on the back go missing. Alumni ask for their championship photo, and staff have to dig through boxes. Without a season and names attached, even a scanned photo is hard to use.

Ideas for Team Photo Scanning

Championship team portraits

Start with the teams that won titles, since alumni often ask for those photos.

Names on the back of prints

Capture any handwritten names on the reverse before the photo is filed, so the roster isn’t lost.

Coaches’ office frames

Framed photos on office walls are easy to forget and are sometimes the only copy.

Girls’ teams and newer programs

Make sure every program is represented, not only the sports with the longest photo history.

Band, theater and club photos

Group photos from the arts and activities belong in the showcase alongside athletic teams.

Photos with unknown years

Gather undated photos into one folder so coaches and alumni can help place them.

How it works with Data Entry & Project Management

Team Photo Scanning, step by step.

Three steps

  1. Digitize what is still on paper

Share photos that are already digital. For prints and frames, tell Rocket what you have and we’ll confirm the work involved.

  2. Rocket organizes photos by team

Using the season and team details you supply, Rocket places the agreed photos and sends back any it can’t match.

  3. Confirm names and permission

Your team confirms who is pictured and the permission to use each photo before it appears in the showcase.

Setups vary by school; your demo confirms what yours will use.

Best practices

Tips to get it right.

Team Photo Scanning tips

  1. Scan or shoot without glass

Take photos out of their frames when you can, or shoot at an angle that avoids glare.

  2. Name files by sport and year

A filename such as "boys-soccer-1994" saves a lot of matching work later.

  3. Write down who is pictured

If a coach or alum can name the players, note it while they’re in the room.

  4. Keep the originals labeled

Return prints to labeled sleeves or boxes so the source is easy to find if a question comes up.

Questions

Team Photo Scanning questions

Photos that are already digital can be shared for data-entry help. For prints, frames and loose photos, describe what you have and Rocket confirms the work involved; you can do that without scanning them first.
